The model of YHA is centered around creating meaningful working experience for youth within their communities. Youth are placed in entry-level roles in healthcare facilities across the country. With a monthly stipend in a one (1) year internship program, youth are managed and their performance is tracked accordingly. To ensure that they emerge from their 1-year work experience employable, empowered and healthy, youth are trained throughout the program. Towards the end of the program, YHA will provide technical career support to ensure that the youth are employable.
Coupled with the youth work experience is rigourous life skills development program aimed to provide holistic development. This program consists of work-readiness training, monthly development sessions and technical role-specific training
Demand creation programmes are coupled with community mobilisation and information sessions to address various health issues, HIV and AIDS, TB, COVID-19 etc.
Youth Health Africa has been involved in data collection and providing youth research assistants for various research studies. These include research studies in HIV and AIDS, TB, COVID-19, etc.
YHA empowers youth through promotion of vegetable farming. YHA uses both organic and smart farming. Youth are developed as agri-preneurs while some of the vegetables are donated to needy community members
In response to the lack of job opportunities in Africa, YHA has developed a social entrepreneurship program that allows youth to gain basic entrepreneurship skills through our Bizz Nest where they are given an opportunity to compete for seed money to start their businesses
