Koketso Phoko

Koketso Phoko (29) originally from Burgersfort in Limpopo and currently residing in Brixton, Johannesburg joined the Youth Health Africa internship programme in September 2020 through our LinkedIN page. His duties in the programme included assisting the department of Risk and Compliance to identify, assess and manage risk and maintaining compliance culture across the Aurum group. Koketso learned how to deal with work environment pressure and to prioritise his work. He also learned the importance of effective communication. During his internship, Koketso notes a highlight for him was being able to apply the skills and knowledge that he had acquired practically in his work. He was since absorbed by the Aurum Institute and is not responsible for assisting the Risk and Compliance Department in evaluating, monitoring and reporting on the compliance risks across the business and mitigating identified risks, ensuring full compliance with all applicable regulations, company policies and best practices. he is also responsible for working effectively to ensure that all company activities are compliant with regulations, current laws and policies. Koketso would like to advice unemployed youth to treat the job search like a workday, and that they should be kind to themselves, he says, if you have an interview but find out you didn’t get the job, don’t beat yourself up about it because your time will come.
